As an astronomer, I love the sky. This should come as no surprise; most astronomers do love the sky. What may be a bit of a surprise is that I also love clouds. Most astronomers hate clouds; they get in the way of observing the astronomical objects in the sky. While I agree that cloudy skies can stop an astronomer's work dead in its tracks, the resulting cloud patterns can be worth it. I may be biased since I now live in New Mexico, but as far as I am concerned New Mexico consistently has the most beautiful skies I've ever seen, whether clear or cloudy.
